Guyana: Twenty- Five (25) trainees of St Francis Community Developers, Region Six, met with Minister of Labour Joseph Hamilton during a courtesy call on the morning of October 28, 2022.
The trainees were accompanied by their instructor, Alex Foster, who organized a tour for the trainees undergoing the Customer Care and Hospitality Programme offered by the Board of Industrial Training.
On the same day, the Minister of Labour of Guyana, Joseph Hamilton, accompanied Technical Officers of the Board of Industrial Training (BIT), visited 35 trainees undergoing training at the Volunteer Youth Corp facilitated by the Board of Industrial Training (BIT).
Twenty (20) participants are actively engaged in the four-month Electrical Installation programme, while the remaining fifteen (15) are in a six-month Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Repairs programme; both programmes commenced in September under the supervision of Instructors Ronda Thomas and Deveanand Dudnauth, respectively.
Minister Hamilton took this opportunity to encourage the trainees to complete their studies to become accredited and certified in their respective fields. He also noted that they must not fail themselves since the world is evolving, and very soon, they will no longer be capable of earning with one skill in the next five to ten years.
Minister Hamilton reiterated his ministry’s support to ensure they are well taken care of regarding personal protective equipment and basic tools, among other amenities.
