Guyana: Health Minister Frank Anthony participates in launching of telemedicine pilot project

Guyana: The Health Ministry of Republic of Guyana has recently taken another step to improvise the health infrastructure in the country. “Health is on the move!” ministry stated while highlighting the launch of the telemedicine pilot.

The launching ceremony was witnessed by the ministry of labour Dr Frank Anthony and other senior officials.

The health ministry of Guyana mentioned, “The Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony and other Senior Officials from the Health Ministry visited Region Nine on -Wednesday for the launch of the telemedicine pilot project at the Gunns Health Centre.”

At the moment, the project is being rolled out in Nappi, Yupukari and Parikwarinau in Region Nine.

Through this modern intervention, Health Care Workers in remote areas can now connect virtually (online) with Emergency Room Specialists at the GPHC to evaluate a patient’s condition and provide medical assistance to the Health Care Worker on the ground.

During his time in the region, the Minister also visited the Lethem Regional Hospital.

Furthermore it informed that the Ministry of Health has launched the Telemedicine Pilot Project at four health centres in Region Nine in the following areas:

  • Gunns
  • Nappi
  • Yupukari
  • Parikwarinau

Health Care Workers in these remote areas can now connect, virtually (online) with Emergency Room Specialists at the GPHC to access a patient’s condition and provide quality care.
