Grenada: Newly elected PM Dickon Mitchell reaches Suriname to attend 43rd CARICOM Meet
Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell will lead a delegation from Grenada for the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Conference of Heads of Government in Suriname.

Grenada: The 43rd Meeting of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Conference of Heads of Government has been scheduled to be held in Paramaribo, the Republic of Suriname, from July 3 to July 5, 2022.
Heads of Governments will discuss “Advancing the CARICOM Agri-Food systems agenda, Climate Finance, Security issues and updates on Covid-19 and emerging health issues”.
Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell will lead a delegation from Grenada comprising Joseph Andall, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development; Arley Gill, Ambassador for CARICOM Affairs; Che Phillip, Foreign Service Officer and Orlando Romain, to provide public relations support.
The delegation is inclusive of one (1) security officer.
PM Mitchell is expected to participate in bilateral meetings and return to Grenada on July 6, 2022.
Lennox Andrews, Minister for Economic Development, Planning, Tourism and ICT, Creative Economy, Agriculture and Lands, Fisheries and Cooperatives, will be appointed as Acting Prime Minister in the absence of Dickon Mitchell.
On July 3, 2022, the President of Suriname – Chandrikapersad Santokhi, who also serves as the new Chairman of CARICOM, held a news conference at Suriname Presidential Palace. During the conference, PM Santokhi gave an overview of the agendas which would be discussed during the meeting. He further responded about whether the region will be discussing solutions to the energy crisis currently gripping many nations of the region.
