Grenada: Afy Fletcher receives grand welcome following World Cup 2024

Grenada welcomed its start cricketer, Afy Fletcher with a grand celebration on her arrival to St. Andrew North West. The community came together in order to honour their cricketer following her exceptional display of performance for the West Indies in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Afy Fletcher turned out to be a huge asset for the West Indies team, as she showcased her excellent performance in the bowling section throughout the tournament. She claimed 10 wickets in total which also includes 3 wicket hauls against Scotland and England respectively.

Her best figures i.e. 3 wickets by giving away only 21 runs against England played a huge role in leading the team towards the semi-finals. Though West Indies was not able to win the World Cup 2024, Afy Flecther’s performance still remained the talk of the town, positioning her team into better statistics.

In fact, she was also included in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Team of the Tournament which is a testament to her remarkable performance throughout the event.

The Minister further reiterated her commitment to continue to extend their support to Afy Fletcher. She added that they are comitted to providing all the required resources to all their athletes like Afy Fletcher with a vision to elevate the sports sector of the country to greater heights.

Minister Thomas noted that the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Grenada is committed to supporting the continued success of their athletes and promote their growth across the island nation.
