Dr Denzil Douglas lauds three silver medallists of St Kitts and Nevis at CARIFTA Games 2024
Minister of Foreign Affairs of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas extended congratulations to all the three winners who won medals for St Kitts and Nevis at the 51st edition of CARIFTA Games.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Minister of Foreign Affairs of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas extended congratulations to all the three winners who won medals for St Kitts and Nevis at the 51st edition of CARIFTA Games.
The games were scheduled to take place in Grenada from 29th March to 31st March 2024 with a vision to give a platform to all the athletes to showcase their talent, skills, power, abilities and techniques.
The first medal for St Kitts and Nevis at CARIFTA was bagged by Jaheem Clarke who won a silver medal in the Under-17 Male Javelin at his personal best of 56.09m. Meanwhile, Abijah Nemdhari secured fourth place, covering a distance of 54.10m.
Following that, Akanye Samuel-Francis brought laurels to the nation by winning the second silver medal for St Kitts and Nevis at his new personal best timings of 52.88 seconds in the Under-17 Male 400mh & 110mh.
Moreover, Jermahd Huggins was awarded the 2nd Best Athlete in the Caribbean for 2024 as he participated in eight events, out of which he won 2 and moved from 8th place on day 1 to 2nd overall position. The competitions he participated in were 100m, Long Jump, Shot Put, 400m, High Jump, 110Mh, Javelin and 1500m.
Minister Douglas appreciated the unwavering commitment and dedication of all the players who participated in the event and acknowledged their continuous determination and focus in order to win a medal for their nation.
He also appreciated the Minister of Sports of St Kitts and Nevis, Samal Duggins who has played a pivotal role in elevating the sports of the island nation to greater heights. He also acknowledged the continuous efforts of Samal Duggins towards enhancing the sporting sector of the Federation and promoting youth towards such sporting activities.
The country’s residents also congratulated all the participants and credited the administration for the athletes’ significant victory. They stated that the local competitions being conducted in the island nation have polished and nurtured the talent and skills of all the athletes.
