Dominica: The Parliamentary Representative of the Grand Bay Constituency, Dr Vince Henderson, has spent the last few days in New York City as part of a team meeting with United Nations representatives of Commonwealth Countries ahead of the June 20-26 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in the Rwanda and a crucial leadership vote.
He extended thanks to the country representative and stated, “I would like to thank the country representatives who have met with our team. We appreciate your time, feedback and support.”
“As Minister for Climate Resilience, Sustainable Development and Renewable Energy, I have seen the priority placed on climate issues by the Commonwealth, under the stewardship of Baroness Patricia Scotland,” he added.
Baroness Scotland has backed up her calls for urgent and sustained attention to climate issues by the international community through ambitious climate initiatives, including:
– Assistance to member countries in crafting and implement their national climate plans through the Climate Action Enhancement Package;
– Improve access to financing for Africa, the Caribbean, and Pacific states through the flagship Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub;
– Mainstreaming gender and youth issues in climate action;
At a critical time for climate action, the government of Dominica looks forward to Baroness Scotland’s continuing her term as we advance our plans for energy resilience and transition, finance our adaptation and mitigation projects and consolidate issues for small states and Africa.
