Roseau, Dominica: The Commonwealth of Dominica recorded a total of 126 new cases of the COVID-19 virus on Thursday, January 27, 2022, according to the data shared by the island’s Ministry of Health and Wellness.
Out of the total new cases, two individuals tested positive for the COVID-19 virus by RT-PCR testing method, while the remaining 124 tested positive after conducting a Rapid Antigen test on them. The report’s data further notes that the total number of active COVID cases has risen to 867 with the arrival of these new COVID cases.
The death rate of the COVID-19 virus in Dominica stands at fifty-one. As per the data shared in the health ministry, a total of forty-one individuals have recovered and been discharged from the hospital facilities; with this, the total toll of the recovered cases have increased to 8114.
Meanwhile, since the COVID-19 pandemic started, there have been a total of 9032 confirmed cases reported in the Caribbean island. Till January 27, 2022, the healthcare facilities of Dominica has conducted 146241 cases of the COVID-19 tests, of which a total of 33375 tests conducted are the RT-PCR, whereas the remaining 112866 tests were being conducted by the method of Rapid Antigen Testing.
The COVID-19 vaccination statistics of the island:
According to data shared by the health ministry, so far, there are a total of 31314 individuals in the island country who are partially inoculated by taking their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccines. On the other hand, there are a total of 29037 individuals who are fully immunised against the contagious viral disease by receiving the required number of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines.
Additionally, a few days back, Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit approving the new COVID19 health protocols noted that only the immunised population will be able to attend the special events which will take place in Dominica.
