Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Department of Youth – Nevis has recently concluded the Summer Job Attachment Programme Professional Development Workshop on July 7, 2023. As per the update, the workshop started on July 4.

On the first day of the workshop, the department highlighted that today witnessed an excellent start to the Summer Job Attachment Programme Professional Development Workshop.

Under the Aspiring Professionals: Inspired to Change the World theme, the department warmly welcomed fifty-eight prospective interns to St Paul’s Anglican Church Hall for the opening ceremony and the first training day.

“The two sessions were Why I want to be what I want to be by Director Kerdis Clarke and Employees’ Rights and Responsibilities by the Department of Labour,” it added on the social media post.

According to the update, the prospective interns were punctual, cordial, responsive, and engaging. They are a lovely bunch. The department showed eagerness to interact with its prospective interns on Day Two.

“Employers, there is still time to partner with us to offer our school leavers on-the-job training,” it concluded.

Following this, the Department of Youth of Nevis pointed out about Day Two of SJAP training is in the bag. “It was a packed day for our prospective interns,” it mentioned on social media post.

As per the update, the sessions in focus were:
The Pitch (Resume Writing) – Delcia Burke
Go Pro (Professionalism in the Workplace) – Shirna Browne
Chi Ching Ching (Budgeting) – Janesha Daniel
Netiquette (Internet Etiquette) – Vijay Harrinarrain

“We can’t express enough how thankful we are to our facilitators, who, year after year, dedicate their time to impart useful knowledge to our prospective interns,” the department quoted.

Day Three was AMAZING, the Department of Youth – Nevis updated.

The prospective interns used creative ways to demonstrate the lessons that they learned over the past two days. Growth was on display. Excitement was on display. Teamwork was on display. Support was on display.

According to the update, some of the high points included:
– Always dress appropriately and professionally
– Keep work information private and confidential
– Avoid office gossip
– Be punctual at all times
– Always exercise prudence when spending money by preparing a budget
– A resume should always be properly prepared
– Be mindful of one’s conduct, especially in the public space
