COVID wave: 177 new cases, 767 active infections in St Kitts and Nevis

St Kitts and Nevis: As per the COVID-19 update report shared by the health ministry, 177 additional COVID-19 cases was recorded on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, in the twin-island Federation. With this, the total number of active cases rises to 767.
No death was recorded in the twin-island Federation. So far, a total of 2,871 patients have recovered from the contagious mutant and have been discharged from the hospital facilities, as per the COVID-19 update report.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic emerged in St Kitts and Nevis, it reported 3,666 total confirmed cases of the COVID-19, out of which 3,075 are recorded in St Kitts and 591 in Nevis island country.
St Kitts and Nevis COVID-19 vaccination report issued by the Ministry of Health further shows that till January 5, 2022, around 81.5 % of its adult population is immunised by taking at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
At the same time, around 76% got their required jabs of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccine and are now fully immunised.
The data in the health ministrys’ report further highlights that about 16.6% of children are partially vaccinated by taking their first jab, whereas 14.3% of children are fully inoculated by acquiring their second jab of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The twin-island Federation has also started to administer the eligible population with booster shots, to which so far, 6.2 % population has received it.
The COVID-19 vaccination report further reveals –
- the total number of doses administered: 55,590
- doses administered in St Kitts: 42,306
- doses administered in Nevis: 13,284
- and the total number of booster shots administered: 2,060.
