Trinidad and Tobago: Trinidad+Tobago Film Festival (TTFF) has shared a screening update regarding the Caribbean movie – Coolie Pink and Green. The movie was screened on the pay-per-view streaming platform ttff+ on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.
The TTFF invited the general public to binge-watch one of the most – ‘Coolie Pink and Green’ TODAY!
The movie has been directed by Patricia Mohammed and is an experimental documentary which refers Bollywood industry in India. Coolie Pink and Green narrates the Caribbean Indian culture via a story of a Hindu girl. In the movie, the girl has been trying to learn the beauty of her culture and the elders in the community try to keep it in the moulds of tradition. While the girl is sympathetic to the elder’s views, she already lives in a hybrid culture and must celebrate both.
The movie also highlighted that despite the significant presence of East Indians in the Caribbean, Indian culture has yet to be seen as being genuinely indigenous.
The movie was released in the year 2009. The director and writer of the movie was Patricia Mohammed, with co-writer: Nazma Muller. Anisa Ali was cast in the movie, and the movie was edited by Michael Mooleedhar.
