Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: The Officers of the East Division Gang Unit on Thursday succeeded in producing a 38-year-old man of Belmont before High Court Magistrate Shabana Shah, days after his arrest. He is supposed to re-appear in court on August 9.

As per police reports, the accused was identified as Quesi Mc Cree alias, also known as ‘CONAN.’ He was a resident of Upper St Barbs at Belmont. He was arrested on March 13 by the ranks of the East Division.

Conan was arrested and charged with killing a 42-year-old male, Edunde Telemaque. The victim resided at the same place as Mc Cree. He was murdered on New Year’s Eve, January 1, 2024, at the Upper Belle Eau Road at Belmont.

The case was reported to the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region One Office. The police officials responded to the matter and began their investigation.

During their investigation, they arrested Conan on March 13. Following his arrest, he was charged with the offences of Murder, Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition on Thursday, March 21, on the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC.

It is to be noted that the investigation was supervised by W/Ag ASP Bridglal and Insp Mongroo, while the charges were laid by PC Roberts of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region One. If sources are to be believed, it has been said that Mc Cree is due to re-appear in court on August 9, 2024.

With the rising rate of crimes in T&T, people are now seeking quicker and more immediate responses from the police against such criminal activities. The citizens are definitely living in a state of fear as the country is grappling with the problem of an increase in crimes.

Prime Minister Keith Rowley called for an emergency and urged zero tolerance against such crimes. He ensured that his government was implementing every possible measure in its power to combat the problem of homicides.
