Further amendments would be made to help that change to a new president to be sworn in on November 30. After, a new constitution would get passed.
PM Mottley said that for the course of the next four months, they would start and complete the discussion to settle among themselves what has been that trajectory? What is the spirit with which they want to embrace both the Republic and the new constitution? Who are they? What do they stand for? And that conversation would be led by the Republic Transition Advisory Committee along with other members of civil society and the government because there might be a Charter of Barbados that has been established and brought to their Parliament before November 30 such that we enter the morning of the November 30 committed to the Charter of Barbados that reflects the essence of who Barbadians are and what they stand for.
Jamaica would be another country after Barbados that is ready to get a republic, but their administration had not yet taken any serious steps towards this decision.
