Roseau: American Airlines would now be operating daily flight services from the United States to the Commonwealth of Dominica from next year, in the month of April.
The airlines commenced direct flight service from Miami, US, to the island just two weeks before.
This is a huge success for the tourism sector of Dominica, as it will provide a massive boost. Earlier, in the Annou Pale episode, the tourism minister Denise Charles hinted over the talks going between the ministry and the airlines about the direct flight operations.
Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit provided the information via his Facebook post, expressing his excitement; he wrote, “We welcome word from American Airlines that it will operate daily flights from the US Mainland to Dominica from April 2022“.
“The news comes less than 2 weeks after the company commenced direct flights to Dominica from Miami. This is great news for our destination, particularly for our tourism stakeholders, who stand to benefit from increased access to the island. #DynamicDominica,” the post of the prime minister further adds.
The majority of the travellers visiting Dominica are from the United States; this commences of direct flight hence ease and comfortable travel and would attract more tourists.
The COVID-19 pandemic hit the economy of the Caribbean states the most, giving some significant lessons. With the policies and tremendous planning of the Dominican government, the island is recovering from the impacts of the deadliest COVID-19 pandemic.
The tourism sector is also rejuvenating at a speedy pace, and the return of travellers from across the world and cruise vessels is the prof of this.
Two vessels docked at the Woodbridge Bay and the Roseau Cruise Ship Terminal on Sunday. PM Skerrit wrote on his Facebook post, Roseau is abuzz with activity on this beautiful Sunday. Two ships are in port, docked at the Woodbridge Bay and the Roseau Cruise Ship Terminal. We welcome our visitors as they explore the natural wonders of our Nature Isle”.
