Agriculture Ministry to host St Kitts Agriculture Open Day 2024

Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources will host two days Agriculture Open Day 2024 on April 25 and 26 at the Royal Basseterre Valley National Park. This will be held under the theme, “Securing our Future through Sustainable Agriculture by 2025 and Beyond.”

St Kitts and Nevis: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources will host two days of Agriculture Open Day 2024 on April 25 and 26 at the Royal Basseterre Valley National Park. The event will be held under the theme “Securing our Future through Sustainable Agriculture by 2025 and Beyond.”

All the vendors and public members are invited for the same. Registration is now open to all who are interested in securing their spot early at the highly anticipated 2024 edition of Agriculture Open Day.

Registration forms for the same are available at various places such as Basseterre Public Market, Department of Agriculture, La Guerite, Department of Marine Resources and the Ministry of Agriculture and Building 16 Port Zante at St Kitts.

The authorities are doing great for the development of the agriculture sector in the country which even contributes towards the overall development of the country. 

Recently, the ministry even shared the 2024 Work plan presentation which was held under the theme, “Agricultural Transformation for a sustainable Island State.”

The programme involves certain objectives, including the establishment of Fruit Orchards and continuous improvement of crop-related products which aim at improved crop production. Also, it aims at increasing the availability of nutritious and safe food for consumption.

Moreover, this will also lead towards protecting livelihoods and food security by preventing the introduction and spread of new pests of plants into St Kitts. It will promote sustainable land use and biodiversity conservation.

The program included all the plans that could outline better results for crop division. This not only involved the target but also various units like propagation, experimental, extension, land management, agro-processing and marketing were covered.
