25,000 jabs of COVID-19 vaccines from India lands at St Lucia
A gift of 25,000 jabs of Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccines dispatched from India through the OECS arrived in St Lucia.

St Lucia: A gift of 25,000 jabs of Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccines dispatched from India through the OECS arrived in St Lucia.
Prime Minister of St Lucia Allen Chastanet and other cabinet members were present on the arrival of the consignment of 25,000 jabs of Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccines under the program of Vaccine Maitri.
Moreover, this shipment initially arrived in Antigua and Barbuda, then reached St Kitts and Nevis.
Antigua and Barbuda received 40,000 jabs of Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccines, whereas St Kitts and Nevis obtained 20,000 shots of Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccines.
On the other hand, St Vincent and the Grenadines to obtain 40,000 jabs, Republic of Suriname to secure 50,000 vaccines through this program.
These vaccines are manufactured by the scientists of the Serum Institute of India, which holds the capacity to vaccinate 50% of the world’s population. Besides, it is the largest Biotechnological company for producing vaccines all over the world. Second position hold by the UK and further by America’s Johnsons & Johnsons company.
The arrival of vaccines from the charter plan was recorded live, and citizens of St Lucia also expressed their feelings via comments.
A St Lucian commented, “Thanks to the Prime Minister of Dominica, who made the request on St. Lucia’s behalf. With all the cases in St. lucia, Chastanet has not made one call to request vaccines.”
Besides, This compliment from India came under the program of Vaccine Maitri to inculcate vaccine equity all over the world.
The prompt delivery of vaccines to 5 more countries is credited to the chairman of OECS, PM Roosevelt Skerrit, who achieved to convince the Indian administration to make another contribution to the Caribbean.
COVID-19 update in St Lucia indicates total active cases-3,390, Deaths-35 and people recovered-3,013. This gift of 25,000 jabs of Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccines dispatched from India through the OECS will prove a boon for St Lucia.
