Due to the rising COVID-19 cases in Barbados, there have been 200 persons in quarantine at hotels. 40 new cases have been reported on the island, with 1 recent COVID-19 death reported on the island.
Manager of the COVID-19 Quarantine Facilities, Alvin Hart, urged that the citizens should follow the physical medical protocols and to stay away from work when experiencing symptoms of the virus. As the numbers increase, the more hotels we would had to use, and the more room stock would be required.
Manager of the COVID-19 Quarantine Facilities, Alvin Hart, was speaking during a virtual press conference that was led by Chief Medical Officer Dr Kenneth George and Minister of Health and Wellness, Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic, Senior Medical Officer Dr Leslie Rollock on the latest increase in COVID-19 cases. The newest addition involves a St. Michael church, two businesses and a St. George family.
Hart said for the latest cluster, five hotels – Dover Beach Hotel, Time Out Hotel, Barbados Beach Club, Dover Beach Hotel and the Sugar Cane Club – were being used to quarantine the primary contacts.
The manager of the COVID-19 Quarantine Facilities, Alvin Hart, said that they had the individuals from the large establishment that Dr George spoke about. They had over 70 of those in quarantine. They had almost all the members of that church cluster. The entire membership of that church should be in quarantine, which has been primary contact. They also had all of those from the different family clusters that were out there.By the end of the day, they would have around 200 persons in quarantine within these hotels.
The manager of the COVID-19 Quarantine Facilities, Alvin Hart, said that day, they retested about 18 persons. Tomorrow, they would retest a very large number, and that would be a lot of persons from that large establishment. We would be retesting about 71 of them. So every day, they were retesting people. The number of persons coming into quarantine would be based on the number of positive cases that they saw tomorrow and the following day. So, persons would be going, and persons would be coming, but what they want has been that the numbers keep falling and there’s no significant rise in the numbers.
