Trinidad and Tobago: Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) advised citizens to exercise caution when doing business transactions with large sums of money on December 26, 2022 (Monday).
TTPS has asked the people of the nation to be aware of their surroundings when making large withdrawals, especially from ATM services.
It also stated not to leave large amounts of cash in vehicle unattended. TTPS further said to secure large amounts of cash properly or attempt to conceal it inconspicuously.
“Do not draw attention to large withdrawals by counting money in public spaces or securing money while in a public area,” the police service of Trinidad and Tobago noted.
Additionally, it advised trying to limit the period of time you have large amounts of cash on your person.
“If you are the victim of larceny or robbery, make a report to the TTPS immediately by calling 999, the nearest police station or via the Report Crimes Online Platform on the TTPS website,” the service mentioned.
In the era of online and digital commerce, conducting business transactions online has become increasingly commonplace. Businesses of all measures are taking advantage of the convenience and cost savings of online transactions. However, it is essential to remain vigilant and take certain precautions when conducting business online to protect yourself and your customers.
First and foremost, make sure that online transactions are secure. Look for any warnings or alerts associated with the website or app you are using. Look for a secure connection (HTTPS://) and a lock icon in the address bar. Additionally, ensure that the computer is up-to-date with the latest security patches and antivirus software.
Second, be sure to thoroughly research any vendors one is using for online transactions. Make sure the vendor is legitimate and has a good reputation. Additionally, be sure to read any terms and conditions of service and understand the policies and procedures associated with the transaction.
Third, keep the customer data secure. Make sure one is using a secure payment gateway that encrypts credit card and other payment information. Additionally, ensure you have a good system in place for storing customer data and make sure that this system is secure.
Finally, make sure that one has a good system in place for tracking and verifying online transactions. This includes having a way to verify the identity of the customer, tracking payments, and making sure all transactions are completed in a timely manner.
