As a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, Trinidad and Tobago honours the selfless contribution of the courageous men and women who offered their lives for the nation’s independence in World Wars I and II and have served as well as continue to serve in the country’s armed forces. The day is also used to reflect on the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces and their families.
The authorities has asked to pause to remember all of the persons who have served the country during the difficult times of war, conflict and peace. On this auspicious day, an individual must honour the memory of people who have given their lives in service towards the country.
Remembrance Day is important because it helps us to remember the sacrifices that Canadian soldiers have made in the past and present. It is a time to reflect on the cost of war and to think about the ways citizens of a nation can work together to make a more peaceful world.
