Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is signed between Guyana and Suriname for constructing a high-span bridge over the Corentyne River, which would link the two countries.
Suriname’s International Business, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Albert Ramdin and Hugh Todd, his Guyanese counterpart signed the MOU.
President Ali said that once the bridge is constructed, not only would it serve as a permanent link between the people of both the countries but also as a link to the rest of the South American continent.
President Santokhi said that the bridge would mark a new era for both Suriname and Guyana.
The two countries also signed a strategic dialogue and cooperation agreement. It will be the formal mechanism which is used by these countries to implement projects.
