Stephan Pascal, Dominica’s young cricketer to lead West Indies U-19 Squad

Dominica’s young cricketer Stephan Pascal has been named as the captain of the West Indies squad for the ICC Men’s Under 19 Cricket World Cup.

Dominica’s young cricketer Stephan Pascal has been named as the captain of the West Indies squad for the ICC Men’s Under 19 Cricket World Cup. The tournament will be played in South Africa from 19 January to 11 February 2024.

Notably, Nathan Sealy has been given the charge of the Vice Captain of the team. According to the information, most of the players in the selected squad have already toured Sri Lanka for three Youth One-day Internationals and two four-day test matches in the months of August and September.

Moreover, three players, namely, Isai Thorne, fast bowler, Nathan Edward, left-handed allrounder and Jordan John, left-handed batter, already have the experience of playing in the ICC Men’s Under 19 2022 Cricket World Cup.

 The schedule of the matches is as follows:

Warm–up matches: West Indies will face New Zealand in the first warm-up match at Braamfischer Oval, Johannesburg, on Sunday, 14 January 2024.

The second match will be played against Nepal at St Stithians, Johannesburg, on Tuesday, 16 January 2024.

First Round – Group B

On Friday, 19 January, the first match will be played against South Africa at JB Marks Oval, Potchefstroom. The second game will be played against Scotland. The match will be played at JB Marks Oval, Potchefstroom, on Wednesday, 24 January. The third game is scheduled for Friday, 26 January; the game will be played against England at JB Marks Oval, Potchefstroom.

At the same time, the lead selector for the West Indies squad, Robert Haynes, while expressing his views, added that, “They chose the balanced squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.”

Haynes also mentioned that, “it is an excellent chance for all the young players to represent their team and exhibit their talent.”
