St Lucia: Ministry of Health and Wellness got confirmation of 84 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
The results have been obtained from a batch of 229 samples taken on May 20, 2022 (Friday). Out of the total samples, 206 were collected from the Ezra Long Laboratory, and the remaining 23 were collected from Laboratory Services and Consultations Limited.
The Ezra Long Laboratory has settled the processes to increase the testing procedures and will be finally clearing the backlog over the next two days; hence the big testing specimen numbers will be processed.
All of these people were seen at various community respiratory clinics, where they were assessed and tested for coronavirus. In keeping with the national coronavirus testing protocol, healthcare practitioners placed each of these people in-home quarantine while awaiting the return of their test results.
Adjustments have since been made for the placement of these individuals under quarantine. The contact tracing for these new coronavirus cases is underway. The new coronavirus cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in the nation to date to 24,957.
The Ministry of Health also got confirmation of the recovery of 107 people bringing the total number of active coronavirus cases in the country to date to 824. Presently, 23 of the active coronavirus cases require critical care at the Respiratory Hospital.
Ministry of Health has confirmed that around 53,877 residents have received the COVID-19 vaccine, whereas 5,336 are partially vaccinated. A total of 7,412 residents have taken booster shots.
The Ministry of Health has been urging the residents of St Lucia to follow proper COVID-19 guidelines.
The ministry has further informed that the vaccination process will resume on May 23, 2022 (Monday) at various Wellness Centres. The vaccination will be provided from 9 am to 4 pm.
