St Lucia: Prime Minister Philip J Pierre shared the information with the reports on Thursday, claiming his ‘celebrity status’ after his photo as well as the royal couple, the Earl and Countless of Wessex, went the previous week.
Looking at the arrival in Saint Lucia on April 22, the couple made a courtesy visit to the official residence of the Prime Minister as well as presented Prime Minister named Pierre with a photograph of themselves and a Jubilee box as a token of appreciation.
Moreover, a picture of the exchange has gone viral over social media, creating quite a stir.
It was featured on a foreign television station as participants discussed the worst gift they received.
Along with this, Pierre shared the information, “I am very happy to be made an international celebrity.”
He mentioned in the statement, “I didn’t know anything was wrong with my face. I think I just accepted the gift, but I’m very happy that the world press thought it was fitting to make me a celebrity.”
In addition, it is the usual protocol for visiting dignitaries to exchange gifts with the leader of a nation as well as political leaders when making official visits.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Pierre gave the couple a painting of one of the island’s turtles rolled up in a long black tube which a local artist painted.
