Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: The Federation of St Kitts and Nevis has been witnessing inclement weather conditions across the island country due to heavy rainfall. The weather departments have announced that flash floods may occur because of continuous rain.

St Kitts MET office has also announced that a flash flood watch was in effect, till 5 pm on April 6, 2023, for flood-prone areas of St Kitts. While sharing a weather advisory, NEMA and St Kitts MET Office asked the public to be prepared and weather the storm through safe practices.

According to the weather alert shared by the St Kitts MET Office on April 5, 2023, The present weather on Wednesday was cloudy skies with Showers in the vicinity. The wind was a moderate breeze of 13mph from the northeast.

Additionally, it informed that the temperature would range between 27°C/81°F to 30°C / 86°F and Humidity will be 78%. The Sea Level Pressure will remain at 1014.4mbs or 29.95″.

The MET Office of St Kitts has also announced that there will be a 60 to 70 percent of chance that the night of April 6 may witness heavy rainfall.

Because of such weather conditions, many offices, schools and public gatherings were cancelled or delayed. Recently, the Tourism Authority of St Kitts announced the closure on April 6, 2023 (Thursday) because of the rough weather. The authority has also announced the closure of the office till April 11, 2023 (Tuesday).

The update by the Kittitian Heartbeat noted, “Due to inclement weather, the St. Kitts Tourism Authority is closed for the remainder of the day on Thursday, April 6 2023. To commemorate the Easter weekend, the office will reopen at 7:30 am on Tuesday, April 11 2023.”

The authority has further taken the platform to wish the general public and outlined, “Wishing you a blessed Easter filled with the joy and the abundance of good things that come with the spring season.”
