St Kitts and Nevis to host World Fisheries Day and Marine Expo
World Fisheries Day is celebrated on 21st November every year.

St Kitts and Nevis is all set to host World Fisheries Day and Marine Expo with a diverse range of events and activities, aiming to highlight the importance of sustainable fisheries. This celebration will be conducted from 17th – 24th November, 2024 with a vision to address all the threats to marine and freshwater resources.
The week of exciting activities and events will be hosted by the Department of Marine Resources of St Kitts and Nevis in order to honour the dedication of their fishers towards the development of their marine department.
They have therefore, extended an invitation to all the citizens to join them for a week filled with exciting activities. They noted that this week is a great opportunity to honour the dedication of their fishers. “Dive into the festivities and make a difference.”
As per the details, the week of activities will begin with a Church Service on Sunday, 17th November, 2024. It will be followed by Federal and Nia Minister’s message on 18th November, 2024, where the authorities will hold productive discussions on aquaculture, aiming to promote sustainability in the island nation.
On 19th November, 2024, the authorities will host three events including, DMR Beautification Day in St Kitts, School Visits and Fisheries Complex Open Day, aiming to keep the day engaging and insightful for all the citizens.
The authorities will host a staff meeting as well as Biodegradable Fish Pot Workshop on Wednesday, 20th November, 2024, aiming to guide the citizens about the measures that can be taken to address the challenges to marine conservation.
On Thursday, 21st November, 2024, the Department of Marine Resources of St Kitts and Nevis will host two events including, the SKNMMA tour and Community Outreach. This day will play a huge role in uniting citizens to promote a clean environment through several campaigns and initiatives.
The authorities have asked all the citizens to wear blue on Friday, 22nd November, 2024. The authorities will host Fish Festival which will play a significant role in promoting the fishery sector.
The authorities will conduct a Beach Cleanup on 23rd November, 2024 where volunteers will work together to remove litter, debris and other pollutants from beaches and coastal areas.
The exciting week of activities of World Fisheries Day and Marine Expo will conclude with Fish Festival and Expo. The authorities will celebrate the day through workshops, cultural programs, exhibitions, demonstrations, and music shows in order to highlight the balance in the ecosystem, healthy oceans, and surroundings.
