Basseterre: St Kitts and Nevis again reported 11 new positive cases bringing a total of 265 active cases in the country and one death.
Ministry of Health on Sunday announced that the confirmed COVID-19 cases now stands at 341 with 265 positive cases and 1 death. The Ministry also stated that a total of 75 persons have been fully recovered from the virus.
The government has reported over 19,331 negative tests of coronavirus in the federation. Apart from this, St Kitts and Nevis is also peddling the vaccination programme to attain herd immunity and safeguard people from the deadly virus.
The federation has so far inoculated 33,396 total doses representing 67.5% of the person who had administered for atleast 1 dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. In this figure, 11,205 persons have received their second dose amounting to 33.9 percent of the total population.
Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris had announced that in order to attain herd immunity, 70 percent of the total adult population, which counts for 33,037 must be vaccinated.
PM Harris further urged people to take necessary precautions while at public places by maintaining the 6 feet distance from each other, wearing a face mask, washing or sanitizing hands regularly and avoid public gatherings, including events, which are called superspreaders of COVID-19 virus.
