  • REPORTS TO: Chief Education Officer
  • SUPERVISES SECTOR: All operations within the Early Childhood

RELATIONSHIPS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibility of the Education Officer is to develop, direct and administer plans and programmes to implement the St Lucia Early Childhood Policy and advises the Chief Education officer on strategies and actions that will enhance the development of the Early Childhood Sector in Saint Lucia.

DUTIES AND TASK OF THE EDUCATION OFFICER WILL BE:

  • It will be to manages the daily operations of the Early Childhood Services Unit by maintaining constant dialogue with staff to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • To co-ordinate the activities of different stakeholders within the Saint Lucia Early Childhood Sector.
  • To develop the plans and policies for the integration of Early Childhood Services as per the national objectives of the Saint Lucia Early Childhood Policy through dialogue, discussion and documentation that would ensure efficiency in service provision and programming.
  • Identifies and facilitates the development of projects for the advancement of Early Childhood Sector through direct and indirect forms of communication in order to achieve the goals of the Unit.
  • To analyse the implication of policies and assessing their impact on various programmes and service delivery by conducting discussions.

CONDITIONS:

The conditions under which the job will be provided is that the officer is required to maintain a motor vehicle to function in a scheduled travelling post. The housing, free medical attention and medicine will not be provided. The opportunities that exist for personal development and career advancement through established orientation and in-service training (workshops, seminars and, orientation courses).

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

The skills that the individual should possess is:

  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Ability to effectively network with different stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide leadership, direction and guidance to staff.
  • Ability to effectively organize and manage administrative operations.
  • Quality of advice and supervision given in the delivery of professional development and training activities.
