Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: The police managed to represent a 44-year-old man from Valencia, accused of murder and several other offences before a Master of the High Court on Tuesday, a month after a woman was brutally killed.
The suspect was identified as Reginald James. He was working as a labourer at Teak Lane, KP Lands and Valencia. A woman filed a case against a 44-year-old as he entered her house with a firearm.
As per the police reports, the incident took place on February 15 at Take Lane, Valencia. She saw James enter her house along with a firearm. They were involved in a heated argument.
In due course of time, the suspect took out his firearm and opened fire at her. She told the police that she felt a burning sensation on her left leg after she heard loud explosions.
James immediately escaped the place, and the victim reported the incident to the police. The officers responded to the matter and arrived at her house. She was taken to the hospital for medical attention, where she was treated and subsequently discharged.
The investigating officers conducted a search for a Valencia labourer and arrested him on March 27 by the CID offers, following a raid at his home. Moreover, last week, he was also charged with multiple other offences such as,
– Wounding with intent
– Possession of a firearm
– Possession of ammunition
– Possession of a firearm to endanger life
– Possession of ammunition to endanger life
– Discharging a firearm within 40 meters of a roadway
Additionally, such stances of the crimes are not new in the country. The nation of Trinidad and Tobago records a rapid increase in the crime rate. People experience such incidents every alternative day.
With the rising rate of crimes, the authorities are urged to take serious steps towards the safety of the people in the country and implement strict laws to combat the problem of criminal activities.
