Antigua and Barbuda: The shipment of Oxford Astra Zeneca dispatched from India through the OECS arrived in Antigua and Barbuda.
It will be distributed among five Caribbean nations, including St Lucia, St Kitts, Nevis, St Vincent, Grenadines, Antigua, Barbuda, and the Republic of Suriname.
Prime Minister Of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne wrote, “Thanking PM Modi for the 500K AstraZeneca vaccines that he generously and selflessly shared with the Caribbean to assist in the fight against COVID.”
Antigua and Barbuda to receive 40,000 Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines from India under Vaccine Maitri that is also known as Vaccine Friendship which signifies the donation of Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccines which is manufactured in Serum Institute of India.
These 40,000 Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines will inoculate 80 percent of the population of the nation. Further, this will help to induce Herd Immunity in Antigua and Barbuda.
Moreover, Earlier, India has also distributed ten thousands of Hydrox Chloroquine (HCQ), and India shares bilateral relations with the nation. India will be rolling out mini vaccines, Bharat vaccines rolled out. To explore the opportunity to purchase Indian-made vaccines.
During the arrival of vaccines, PM Browne and other cabinet members were present. H.E Dr. K.J Srinivasa stated that vaccines have come as a donation from India on momentous occasion. These 40,000 thousand doses of vaccines will be immediately distributed to the respective population, including frontline workers and people at high risk. These are manufactured by The high commission of India will work to procure further vaccines on a commercial level.

Besides, In St Lucia, 25,000 doses, St Kitts and Nevis to obtain 20,000, St Vincent and the Grenadines 40,000, Antigua and Barbuda 40,000 vaccines, and the Republic of Suriname to receive 50,000 vaccines.
