US Government donated 208,000 dose of Pfizer vaccine to Jamaica

Jamaica received the donation of 208,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. The U.S. Government has donated these doses under the Biden-Harris administration. These doses of vaccine would be used for vaccinating teenagers.
On Thursday at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, the shipment arrived. U.S. Charge d’Affaires Scott Feeken hand over the vaccines to Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness. Feeken said that this donation has become possible due to President Joe Biden’s commitment towards helping the countries globally that are fighting with COVID-19 vaccine and vaccine shortage at the same time.
Feekan said, “As President Biden has said, the United States is committed to bringing the same urgency to international vaccination efforts that we have demonstrated at home. Thanks to the ingenuity of U.S. scientists and the resilience and commitment of the American people, we can now help others in the fight against the COVID-19 virus.”
Total doses of 600,000 Pfizer vaccines to be donated by the U.S. Government in the 3 phases.
PM Holness thanked President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris and the people of America for their kindness. PM Holness said that their GovernmentGovernment would be using Pfizer vaccines to vaccinate children, which would remain their priority. These vaccines would be used primarily to target their youth population, to enable them to go back to school.
PM Holness again urged the citizens f Jamaica to get vaccinated so that they can get back to the state of normalcy and also highlighted that the government would not make the vaccination mandatory in any case.
Prime Minister Holness said, “However, the Government of Jamaica will engage in an effective, consistent public education campaign to appeal to reasonable-minded Jamaicans, to appeal to Jamaicans who are uncertain… who may have some hesitancy, and to appeal to Jamaicans who may be nonchalant, that it is in your best interest, and it is in the country’s best interest for everyone to take the vaccines.”
These vaccines are part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to share America’s vaccine supply along with the rest of the world.
