Trinidad + Tobago Film Festival announces list of ttff/22 award-winning films

Trinidad and Tobago: The Trinidad + Tobago Film Festival is pleased to announce the ttff/22 award-winning films.

The films that won the award are as follows:

Best Student Film: Take Care, directed by Shun Tachizono

Honourable Mentions: Hide! directed by Shaochen Wang, and Cracked, directed by Lin Que Ayoung.

Best Film as Decided by a Youth Jury: Lo que se hereda (It runs in the family), directed by Victoria Linares Villegas.

Honourable Mention: Talia’s Journey, directed by Christophe Rolin

Best Documentary Short Film: Strictly 2 Wheel, directed by Ania Freer

Best Narrative Short Film: Twa Fèy (Three leaves), directed by “Eleonore Coyette & Sephora Monteau

Honorable Mention: Ici s’achève le Monde Connu (Here ends the world we’ve known), directed by Anne-Sophie Nanki

Best Documentary Feature Film: Paroles de Nègres (The words of negroes), directed by Sylvaine Dampierre

Honourable Mention: Mafifa, directed by Daniela Muñoz Barroso

Best Narrative Feature Film: Cette Maison (This House), directed by Miryam Charles

Honorable Mention: Una Pelicula Sobre Parejas (A Film About Couples), directed by Natalia Cabral & Oriol Estrada

Best Trinidad and Tobago Film: King David, directed by Walt Lovelace

Award-winning films will be viewed on screens 9 and 10 at MovieTowne POS at 8 pm tomorrow, Wed 28 Sept. Get tickets at MovieTowne POS box office.

The TTFF also announced the winner of the “Love in the 21st Century smartphone filmmaking competition”:

‘Love Natural’, directed by Kristof West, bagged the first prize.

‘Love natural’ is an exploration of the meaning of love in the most natural sense. Delving into our instinctual understanding of love, its complexity and the consequences of neglecting this love. Even though the relationship has become strained, it’s the one love we all share.

Presented with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank, the competition was opened to young filmmakers between the ages of 15-25 years old. To be considered, filmmakers were asked to submit a 3-5 minute short film, shot via a smartphone, and which tells a unique story about what love in the 21st Century looks like to them.

‘Love Natural’ will be screened, along with other ttff/22 Award-winning films, on two screens at MovieTowne POS at 8 pm at 28 September. Tickets are available at the box office at MovieTowne POS ceremony. Kristof will be receiving a starter camera package sponsored by IDB.
