Trinidad: Ketonia Dominique creates history, becomes first female commercial pilot
A 25-year-old resident of Chaguanas, Ketonia Dominique created local aviation history by becoming the first locally trained female commercial pilot.

Trinidad: A 25-year-old resident of Chaguanas, Ketonia Dominique created local aviation history by becoming the first locally trained female commercial pilot. She completed her training in order to attain her commercial pilot licence.
While shedding light on her journey, Dominique stated that it was full of hardships and obstacles. She stated that she started her training in 2017 but suddenly Covid-19 pandemic happened which grounded her hopes of flying high in the sky. She further asserted that despite all those challenges, she was adamant towards her dreams and made it to her classes at the Camden Airfield, Couva, where she got her training with Aerial World Services Limited.
Dominique stated that she was very young when she dreamt of becoming a pilot. She noted that it all started with a field trip to old airport in preschool where she got highly interested and inspired to take on this challenge of becoming a pilot and go to aviation sector.
She also expressed her excitement on becoming the first locally trained female commercial pilot in the country and stated that the feeling is completely surreal. She remarked that she is filled with several emotions and is getting short of words to explain how is she feeling.
The young girl also added that it is only God who knows how much hard work and sacrifices she has put in to achieve her dreams. She also stated that the credit for the same also goes to her friends and family members who always supported her and remained her biggest source of strength.
She also acknowledged her parents Broderick Bacchus and Ketina Dominique-Bacchus and grandfather, Mervyn Dominique who have played a huge role in leading her towards growth and development.
She asserted that her success is not only hers but also belongs to them. Dominique added that at every hard phase, her family has always been the biggest support whose encouraging words, hugs, love and advices always pushed her beyond the boundaries for doing great and excel in career.
