Trinidad and Tobago Water and Sewerage Authority shares warning on service, traffic disruption

Trinidad and Tobago: Water and Sewerage Authority has informed about the service and traffic disruption in part of North-east Trinidad

The water and sewerage authority has advised the residents in parts of North-east Trinidad served by the Hollis Water Treatment plant that there will be an interruption in the water supply from 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 4 to 6:00 am on Thursday, May 5 2022; this became necessary, to facilitate pipeline interconnection works at the corner of Aripo Road and Eastern Main Road, which is associated with bringing the new Aripo Well 82 online.

When completed, this will provide an additional 300,000 gallons of water per day into the Hollis transmission pipeline system, which will improve the reliability of supply to customers served by the Hollis Water Treatment Plant.

Areas to be affected include:

• Town of Arima ( all areas South of Broadway inclusive of Lawrence Park)
• O’ Meara Road ( from Churchill Roosevelt Highway to Sierra Vista Street)
• Semaroo village
• Leotaud Lands
• Gallery Gardens/ Boys lane
• La Resource
• Bregon Park
• Bone air Gardens
• KP Lands, Valencia
• Christina Garden
• Darwin Gardens
• Music Road
• Time Heaven Development
• Clever Road
• Parts of Arouca
• Chickland, Waterfield

The Customers are further advised that it may take around 24 hours for the scheduled pipe borne water supply to normalise in some areas after completing these works. A limited truck-borne service would be available with priority to Health Institutions, Government agencies and Homes for the aged.

Traffic Advisory, as per the service authority, motorists are advised that there will be a temporary closure of the Eastern Main Road during these works, which will be diverted South onto Cumuto road, then onto Barbuda Road, followed by Antigua Road and then to be Eastern Main Road.

Motorists travelling west along the central-eastern road will be diverted south onto Antigua Road, then onto Barbuda road, followed by cumuto highway to the east main road; motorists are asked to proceed with caution when approaching the diversion to obey the signs and instructions of Traffic Control officers on duty.

The authority apologised for the inconvenience and extended thanks to the public for their cooperation and understanding during the period of disruption.
