Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: Ministry of Sport and Community Development of Trinidad and Tobago has recently shared an update regarding the 2023 Edition of its April Pools Programme on April 4, 2023. The ministry updated, “The Sport and Community Development Ministry kicked off the 2023 Edition of its April Pools Programme on April 3, at several facilities across Trinidad, such as Diego Martin, Cocoyea and the National Aquatic Centre in Couva.”
As per the update by the Community Development Ministry, April Pools is a component of the Ministry’s S.H.A.P.E in Communities (Sport, Health, Athletic Performance and Empowerment) Programme. Accordingly, it is aimed at raising national awareness of drowning occurrences while educating citizens to become safer in and around water.
It has also stated that the S.H.A.P.E Programme was designed to facilitate sports development in communities throughout Trinidad and Tobago by using sport as well as physical activity as their main driver. In addition to this, the ministry also shared highlights of the Life Saving and Rescue Skills session at the National Aquatic Centre.
Earlier, the Ministry of Sport and Community Development outlined about the planning session organised by Maurice Wilson, who is the principal of GC Foster College. “Our week kicked off with a planning session with Maurice Wilson, Principal of GC Foster College for Physical Education and Sport, along with his technical team, where we collaborated to build a clear future vision and set some specific, attainable goals. We devised an approach for sports development and developed a schedule for implementing elements of that plan,” the ministry informed in an early post.
In addition to this, the social media post also informed that the Minister of Sport and Community Development, Shamfa Cudjoe, is leading a team of sports and education stakeholders on a study tour in Jamaica. The Minister of Education, Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, is also part of the delegation.
