Trinidad and Tobago: CIRC to mark World Television Day with Movie Monday

Trinidad and Tobago: Carnival Institute and Regional Carnival (CIRC) of Trinidad and Tobago has shared update about the “Movie Monday” on November 21, 2022. The institute will watch movie to celebrate the day as the world will mark World Television Day.

“Today on Movie Monday, the Carnival Institute and Regional Carnival (CIRC) celebrates World Television Day,” Monday morning post by Carnival Institute read.

The post informed that it will showcase one of the popular movies from 1978, “Bacchanal Time.” This wildly hilarious Caribbean comedy is set during the Carnival season in Trinidad and is jam-packed with sweet calypso/soca music of the season.

The story is centred on the beautiful twin island nation of Trinidad and Tobago, where an island-wide stick fight competition occurs on Carnival Sunday as two fighters travel great distances through treacherous, often hilarious circumstances to participate in this traditional event.

The film begins with the Carnival weekend excitement, climaxing with the first bands on J’ouvert morning, according to the Carnival Institute of Trinidad and Tobago.

This movie features some of our iconic local stars, namely Gregory Ballantine and Kamalo Deen as stick fighters; also featured in roles are Calypsonians Linda Mc Artha Sandy-Lewis (Calypso Rose), Winston McGarland Bailey (The Mighty Shadow), Edwin Ayoung (Crazy), Randolph Hillaire (Count Robin), Daniel Brown (Trinidad Rio), Peter Herbert (Mighty Wanderer), actor Stork St Hill and a host of others.
