Trinidad and Tobago: A cunupia man charged for killing Municipal Officer

A Cunupia man from Trinidad and Tobago was charged with the offence of murdering a Municipal Police Officer on Tuesday, 2 January 2024.
Notably, a 22-year-old man, who has been identified as Aamir Ali and a resident of Cunupia, appeared virtually before a Chaguanas Magistrate with the charge of murdering Municipal Police Officer, No. 12760 PC Dylan Mohammed.
As per the information, the crime took place on 9 December 2023 and for the same, the charges were read on Ali by the court on Tuesday. The matter has been adjourned and the next hearing will be held on 4 June 2024.
Moreover, the 31-year-old Municipal Police Force has ben identified as Mohammed, who was last serving his duties at the San Fernando Municipal Police Station. The victim was found dead on the banks of a river in the surrounding of Warren Road Extension, Cunupia, on 9 December 2023.
It is to be noted, that the investigation conducted by the officials of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three as well as other law enforcement external agencies, resulted in the arrest of one male suspect on 28 December 2023.
The investigation was supervised by Senior Superintendent Singh, Superintendent Dhilpaul, ASP Persad, Inspector John, Inspector Ousman and Sgt. Bridgemohan of HBI Region Three.
Ali was charged by Cpl Jaggesar of HBI Region Three on Sunday, 31 December 2023 on the advice of Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul on the same date.
Furthermore, the residents of Trinidad and Tobago extended their pleasure and appreciated the police service of the island nation through their comments via Facebook. One of the comments read as “As justice for Dylan continues. Thank you to the team for efforts thus far and we pray for continued successful during this ongoing investigation. May the lord protect and guide you all.”
While another person while appreciating the authorities wrote comment which states as “Amazing news. Thank you to the team responsible for getting Dylan the justice he and his family deserves. We know your work is not yet done and we pray for your continued success.”
