Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: The Meteorological Department of Trinidad and Tobago has recently informed the general public about the upcoming weather conditions across the island. According to the recent update by the department, there is a low to medium chance of a tropical cyclone over the next week.

The Meteorological Department made the following prediction:

🔹Saturday, 22nd July
Generally a fair day. With some surface heating and mild low-level convergence, partly cloudy periods can be expected during the late morning to afternoon, with light to moderate showers in a few areas.
⛈There is a low to medium chance (20 percent – 40 percent) for a heavy shower or thunderstorm, mainly during the late morning or afternoon.
🍃Winds generally from the east.

🔹Sunday, 23rd July
Mild low-level convergence will produce partly cloudy conditions, interrupting fair periods, with light to moderate showers in varying areas.
⛈There is a low to medium chance (20 percent – 40 percent) for a heavy shower or thunderstorm, mainly during the late morning or afternoon.
🍃Winds from east-northeast to east-southeast.

🔹Monday, 24th July
Instability ahead of an approaching low-pressure area, towards the Lesser Antilles. Partly cloudy conditions will interrupt fair periods at times. Light or moderate showers in varying areas.
⛈There is a medium chance (40 percent – 60 percent) for isolated heavy showers or thunderstorms in a few areas.
🍃Winds generally from the northeast.

🔹Tuesday, 25th July
A low-pressure area is expected to be affecting the Lesser Antilles. Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions. Light to moderate showers over varying areas.
⛈Medium to high chance (60% – 80%) of thunderstorm activity from pre-dawn hours.
🍃Winds initially from the east-southeast, then veering to southeast and south-southeast by mid-day.

🔹Wednesday, 26th July
A low-pressure area is expected to be affecting the Lesser Antilles. Partly cloudy to cloudy at times. Light to moderate showers in varying areas.
⛈Medium chance (60%) for heavy showers or isolated thunderstorms.
🍃Winds from the southeast and backing to the east-northeast by late afternoon.

The department also stated that in the event of a heavy shower or thunderstorm, winds can become gusty and street or flash flooding is likely in the vicinity. With the occurrence of prolonged precipitation, the risk of landslips or landslides becomes elevated.

Saharan dust: Moderate Saharan dust in the atmosphere over the weekend. Decrease in concentration from Tuesday 25th.
