St Vincent and Grenadines to receive donation of 14,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses from UK
80 million doses would go to the COVAX facility for those countries that require the vaccines

The government of the United Kingdom has been donating 14,000 doses of Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines to the Caribbean islands of St Vincent and Grenadines.
The 9 million COVID-19 vaccines have to be donated globally by the government of the UK to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and mitigate the effect of the COVID-19 spread. Out of these 9 million vaccine doses, 14,000 vaccine doses are being donated to St Vincent and Grenadines.
Previously the UK government had pledged that they would donate 100 million vaccines globally till June 2022 during the COVID-19 pandemic to assist the other countries suffering from the shortage of the vaccine. 80 million doses would go to the COVAX facility for those countries that require the vaccines. 80 million vaccines would also be given out of 100 million doses.
Indonesia, Jamaica, and Kenya have been among the other nations that would get the donation of COVID-19 vaccines. Indonesia would get 600,000 doses, Jamaica would be getting 300,000 doses, and 817,000 doses would be moved to Kenya, among the other nations.
The Foreign Secretary of the UK Dominic Raab said that The UK government has been giving 9 million doses of Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine, the first batch of the 100 million doses that they have pledged, to get the most unsafe parts of the world vaccinated as a matter of necessity.
Dr Seth Berkley, who is the CEO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, which is co-leading COVAX beside the World Health Organization – WHO and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, appreciated the effort of the UK government and stated that the nation has always been a constant supporter of COVAX and this announcement comes at a necessary time.
The Caribbean island so far had reported a total of 2,291 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus, while a total of 2,229 patients have got recovered from the deadly virus. A total of 12 deaths have been reported on SVG due to the contagious COVID-19 virus.
