St Lucia: Only two patients are critically ill due to COVID-19 infection

According to the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly affairs, the country reported nine (9) new cases of COVID-19 as of March 6, 2022.

St Lucia: According to the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly affairs, the country reported nine (9) new cases of COVID-19 as of March 6, 2022.

The samples for testing were collected between March 3, 2022, and March 5, 2022, not the last 24 hours. According to the health ministry, as many as 147 samples were processed on March 5, 2022 (Saturday), of which 96 samples were collected from the Ezra Long Laboratory and 51 samples were from Laboratory Services and Consultations.

As per the official statics, the total positive percentage makes up to 6.12 percent of all samples processed on that date.

The total number of confirmed cases diagnosed in the country since the pandemic has begun is around 22,788.

The total patients recovered from the deadly virus reported in the country is 33. St Lucia has reported around 82 active cases to date.

However, the hospital admissions in St Lucia is at five (5), of these three (3) are at the Respiratory Hospital, and two (2) of them are critically ill, as well as seeking treatment at the intensive care unit.

Till March 6, 2022, the percentage of the fully vaccinated population of St Lucia is around 28.3 percent, accounting for 52,421. As many as 5,654 populations are partially vaccinated, and around 6,785 have taken the booster doses.

According to the data by the health ministry, around 0.116 million population have been jabbed with the vaccine against COVID-19.

As compared to the countries across the globe, the vaccination rate in St Lucia is quite low.

So far, BioNTech, Pfizer vaccine, Oxford, AstraZeneca vaccine have received green signals from the health and wellness ministry of St Lucia.

According to the health ministry, 37,720 1st doses and 34,508 2nd doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been given to the residents. Meanwhile, 20,053 1st dose and 17,613 2nd dose of Pfizer-BioNTech have been administered.
