St Kitts and Nevis: PM Terrance Drew meets members of the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis – Dr Terrance Drew, has recently shared a glimpse of his meeting with the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society members. The meeting was held on November 3, 2022 (Thursday).

The minister took to social media to express his gratitude towards the members for visiting the nation. His post read, “It was a pleasure to celebrate today five longstanding members of the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society who are now Governors of the Society, Tapley Seaton GCMG, CVO, KC, JP, LL.D; Sir Edmund Lawrence KCMG, GCMG, OBE, CSM, JP; Kenneth Martin M.B.E., MH; Gloria Wilkin; and Larry Armony.”

PM Drew further highlighted that there are outstanding members of the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society and the Federation as a whole. They have made significant contributions in many spheres and are well deserving of this recognition as they have each made extraordinary strides not just in elevating themselves but in their service to the country.

This meet was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Geoffrey Hanley. He extended his congratulations towards the awardees and stated, “I attended an Investiture Ceremony at Government House for five long-serving members of the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society who have conferred the title of Honorary Governors. I congratulate these well-deserving members of the Society and commend them for their outstanding work in managing and preserving our iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site.”

On the previous day, Prime Minister Terrance Drew met with St Kitts and Nevis National Reparation Committee to discuss the mandate of the Committee, its activities and plans for the future. The organization seeks to promote, educate and empower on the issue of reparations.

The committee falls in line with CARICOM’s mandate for the region to establish reparations committees for justice for the region’s indigenous and African descent communities who are the victims of crimes against humanity in the forms of genocide, slavery, the slave trade and racial apartheid.
