St Kitts and Nevis: PM Terrance Drew extends congratulations to Netball Gala 2023 awardees

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, congratulations to the awardees of the Netball Gala 2023. The award-giving ceremony was held on August 19, 2023 (Saturday).

Prime Minister took to social media to extend his heartiest congratulations towards the athletes, their families and sports coaches.

“Greetings, Join me in extending congratulations to all the awardees at the Netball Gala held on Saturday, August 19,” he mentioned through a social media post.

He furthermore outlined, “Your hard work and dedication to the sport over the years have truly paid off. It was an amazing event filled with jubilation, celebrating the history, sportsmanship, and teamwork of the legends behind the sport over the years.”

He cheered and stated, “Here’s to celebrating your achievements on and off the court.”

According to the government of St Kitts and Nevis, all the members of the Caribbean Netball Champions Team of the years 1973 and 1978 were recognised and awarded at the Government House of the Federation. These activities were celebrated under the theme “Acknowledge Aspire Act”.

As per the update, this award ceremony was observed to commemorate the 45th and 50th anniversary of the National Netball Team winning the championship. Along with the PM, the ceremony was attended by other officials.

During the ceremony, the captain of the 1978 netball team – Rosemary McMaster Rawlins, delivered the address and thanked each and every supporter. She outlined that their support and active participation led the week of activities to success. Captain Rawlins also highlighted that for the players, netball is not just a sport.

She was quoted saying, “It’s a community, a legacy, and a way of life”. Rawlins also highlighted, “Our journey over the past week has reaffirmed the bonds that tie us together, and I have no doubt that the passion for netball will continue to burn brightly in our hearts.”
