St Kitts and Nevis: PLP launches manifesto 2022, promises to provide secure future
St Kitts and Nevis: The leaders of the People’s Labour Party (PLP) launched their manifesto “Delivering for the People” on July 28, 2022, at 7 pm.

St Kitts and Nevis: The leaders of the People’s Labour Party (PLP) launched their manifesto “Delivering for the People” on July 28, 2022, at 7 pm. Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris launched the manifesto in the presence of other members of the political alliance.
As per the newly launched manifesto of PLP, the people will be protected from the rising prices. To turn this reality, the party will increase Poverty Alleviation Programme (PAP) to $1,000, and it will improve the PEACE.
In this manifesto, the leaders of PLP assured the general public that it would provide a safe and secure future for all. Some of the promises in the manifesto are:
1) A Secure Future for Families: The party has promised that the PAP will be increased to $1,000, and VAT will be reduced. It will also introduce a $3000 liveable wage. Following this, PLP informed about the construction of 2000 new homes and will launch a $500 childcare fund; it will also provide $5000 for every child’s university education.
2) A Secure Future for Young People: Under this promise, graduates will be provided training to gain the experience and skills needed to find a job. The government has assured that it will launch a business mentoring programme and incubators to help young entrepreneurs and will also develop new and creative sectors, which will help in the creation of new jobs.
3) A Secure Future for Women: If elected, PLP will build a new Women’s Training and Development Centre. Additionally, it will provide a $500 childcare allowance for low-income parents, with an on-the-job work experience programme for mothers.
4) A Secure Future for Seniors: The People’s Labour Party has assured the GAE workers to make them pensionable. The National Health Insurance will roll out seniors, in addition to constructing several senior citizens‘ daycare centres.
St Kitts and Nevis will witness a general election on August 5, 2022. During this, various political parties will participate, including the People’s Labour Party (PLP), led by Prime Minister Timothy Harris, the People’s Action Movement (PAM), led by Shawn K Richards, the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM), led by Premier Mark Brantley St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP), led by Dr Terrance Drew, and the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) led by Dr Janice Daniel-Hodge.
