St Kitts and Nevis Minister Konris Maynard reaches New York to attend UNGA, meets world leaders

St Kitts and Nevis: Minister of St Kitts-Nevis and Member of Parliament for St Christopher #3 Konris Maynard expressed pleasure on meeting with world leaders during the United Nation General Assembly in Nevis York.

The Ministry stated that it was his pleasure and honour, along with Dr Joyelle Clarke, to sit at the 77th General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly, which began today in New York. The leaders were accompanied by Ghislaine Williams and Denaula LaPlace of the Permanent Mission of St Kitts-Nevis to the United Nations.

“Dr Clarke and I are here to participate in important side meetings related to our Government’s push toward Renewable Energy Transition and our Green Climate commitment. In particular, we will participate in a session to discuss Large-scale infrastructure projects in renewable energy and the tools and solutions to access financial capital, green investments, and public-private partnerships,” Minister stated.

Prime Minister of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, will address the General Assembly in the afternoon of Friday, 23rd September.

“So far this morning, we have heard from the Heads of State for Brazil, Senegal, Chile, Jordan, Columbia, and Turkey. A common theme thus far is the need for more developed nations to take greater responsibility for climate action and also in the promotion of peace through diplomacy and dialogue instead of through war,” he stated while explaining about the schedule of the day.

Minister Maynard also got the opportunity to share greetings with Ralph Gonzalves, Prime Minister of St Vincent and Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda.

All world leaders have come together to attend the United States General Assembly in New York. This year’s General Assembly with witness discussions on climate change, the world has been going through. Furthermore, Russia-Ukraine conflict will also be discussed in the UNGA as it has disturbed as well as devastated not only Ukraine but also the world.
