Seven students from Primary Schools across Nevis have been recognized as the recipients of the 2024 Nevisian Association of Washington, DC (NEV-DC) Naomi Daniel-Browne Scholarship.

Seven students across Nevis awarded Naomi Daniel-Browne Scholarship

Nevis: Seven students from Primary Schools across Nevis have been recognized as the recipients of the 2024 Nevisian Association of Washington, DC (NEV-DC) Naomi Daniel-Browne Scholarship.

These scholarships are awarded to the most improved student across Nevis in order to provide every child a right and an opportunity to have access to best education. This scholarship is a testament to the vision of the authorities that no child should be left behind.

The students who received scholarships include Danail Lowe of Joycelyn Liburd Primary School; Kare’nique Storrod of Ivor Walters Primary School; Amiyah Archibald of Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School; Ugesh Shrestha of Violet O. Jeffers-Nicholls Primary School; Celine Gumbs of Charlestown Primary School; Naira Blake of St. James’ Primary School; Ugesh Shrestha of Violet O. Jeffers-Nicholls Primary School and Aniya Seenarine of St. Thomas’ Primary School.

Notably, the scholarship ceremony was hosted by the Department of Education at the Nevis Disaster Management Department conference room.

While shedding light on the ceremony, the President of NEV-DC, Anthony Pemberton stated that he was extremely happy to present these scholarships in honour of Naomi Daniel-Browne. She is one of the founding members of the organisation and a career educator from Gingerland, Nevis.

She was an educator who has left an impeccable mark for the benefit and development of the community. And, stated that this is the fourth year of celebrating Browne’s legacy and promised to continue to provide this scholarship to the students in order to keep her passion for teaching alive.

Anthony Pemberton also remarked that Browne was always a follower of saying that no child should be left behind. He emphasized that they will continue to acknowledge all those students who are working tirelessly in order to improve themselves and achieve their best.

Moreover, He also extended gratitude to the Department of Education for their constant support and expressed his desire to see the scholarship program grow so that it can elevate the educational department to greater heights.

The Principal Education Officer, Londa Browne also extended gratitude to Daniel Family and NEV-DC on behalf of the Ministry and Department of Education. She stated that their continued participation and encouragement for the students is a testament to their unwavering commitment and dedication towards promoting the young minds of the country and developing education department.

She noted that such acknowledgement in term of awards and contributions are always significant as they give the platform to the students to shine and work hard in order to strive for excellence.

A relative of the award’s eponym, Jasmine Daniel also thanked NEV-DC for creating this prestigious programme in her honour to recognize students who excel in education. She congratulated all the awardees and motivated them to continue to persevere in their education and strive for excellence to maximize their potential in life.
