Sapphire Princess made its inaugural call to St Kitts and Nevis

St Kitts and Nevis welcomed the inaugural call of Sapphire Princess to its shores on Friday, 18th October 2024. This visit by the vessel marks the official start of the cruise season 2024-25.

The first visit of the Sapphire Princess to St Kitts and Nevis was warmly welcomed with a plaque exchange ceremony held onboard the vessel. The exchange took place between the Minister of Tourism, Marsha Henderson and Captain Paolo Ravera.

Also, the ceremony was attended by distinguished tourism officials and representatives from the cruise line including, the Chief Executive Officer of the St Kitts Tourism Authority, Kelly Fontenelle; the Chief Operations Officer of the St Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority, Calvin Duggins and the Port Operations Supervisor of the Delisle Walwyn Group of Companies, Jamal Pitt.

The Minister of Tourism, Marsha Henderson extended a welcome to all the crew members and passengers to the island nation. While expressing excitement on the inaugural cruise call of the Sapphire Princess, she stated that her government is adamant to offer all their passengers with a plethora of experiences.

She added that they have a destination known for its authentic experiences, filled with culture, history and untouched sites. Minister Marsha Henderson noted that there are several unique experiences which are awaiting the visitors, from exploring the rich cultural heritage to the historical significance of the island nation.

The Minister further asserted that the arrival of the Sapphire Princess marks a strong start to what is expected to be a busy and successful cruise season 2024-25.

The cruises that are in line to dock at the shores of the country in October 2024 include, Carnival Dream, Amadea, Britannia and Mein Schiff II.

As per the schedule, Sapphire Princess will once again dock at the shores of the island nation on 30th October, 2024 aiming to welcome thousands of passengers to the country. Minister Henderson stated that the arrival of cruises opens doors to several opportunities, boosting not only the tourism, sectors as well be it, accommodation, transportation and the overall economic sector of the country.

She further continued to say that the arrival of the cruises is also a great platform for the local citizens to showcase their talent, abilities, skills and techniques and for the country to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the nation.
