Saint Lucia: Deputy PM Earnest Hilaire distributes Laptops to students of Ciceron Secondary School

The Government of Saint Lucia has started the initiative to distribute laptops among the students of different schools across the country. In this instance, the students of Soufriere and Choiseul Comprehensive Secondary Schools benefitted from the initiative.

Saint Lucia: The Government of Saint Lucia has started the initiative to distribute laptops among the students of different schools across the country. In this instance, the students of Soufriere and Choiseul Comprehensive Secondary Schools benefitted from the initiative.

Philip J Pierre, Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire and Education Minister Kenson Casimir handed over the new laptop to the students. The Prime Minister, Philip J Pierre, and Deputy Prime Minister, Hilaire, joined the education minister on his tour of the schools and handed over the laptops to the students.

The distribution initiative commenced last week and is set to continue as more than 5000 students await their new devices. The Deputy Prime Minister, Earnest Hilaire took to his Facebook Account to share an update regarding the same.

He wrote: Today, the Minister for Education and myself as Parliamentary Representative for Castries South presented Form 1 students of the Ciceron Secondary School with their laptops.

The Minister of Education joined the Deputy Prime Minister as they visited the Ciceron Secondary School in Castries South to present Form one students with the laptops they were promised.

He reiterated the government’s promise and commitment to ensuring that the best educational opportunities be made available to the students of Saint Lucia.

Further, in his post, He stated: “Our government has kept it pledge of one laptop per child.” He also stated that Education is a key part of development both individually and as a nation.”

Thus, In addition to the laptop program, (The Government of Saint Lucia) will also provide cable and internet to homes for $20 a month, paying facilities fees for students and a $500 bursary to all Form 1 students. 

He noted that over 650 students in Castries South benefitted from the Back to School Supplies Programme. Last month, the top ten performers in the CPEA from Castries South were recognised and celebrated. 

The Deputy Prime Minister stated that the Labour Party government of Saint Lucia is keeping their promise of putting people first
