Rotary Club donates to the Defence Force Rangers

Bahamas: Defence Headquarters informed Members of the Rotary Club of Nassau (RCN) recently paid a visit to the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Dr Raymond King, where they presented a monetary donation to assist with the RBDF Rangers program on March 31, 2021, at Defence Headquarters, John F. Kennedy Drive.

As the organization continues to enforce the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King’s strategic intent of focusing on organizational sustainment and national youth development, Mr Stephen Dean, President of the RCN, presented the donation said a means of investing into the program.

According to Mr Dean, as a former law enforcement officer, the Rangers program remains an essential avenue for young people. This presents a perfect opportunity for his organization to partner with them. He has seen individuals who have passed through the program and have gone on to become productive and successful citizens in their careers.

Also in attendance were Lieutenant Commander Origin Deleveaux, who serves as Training Officer and RBDF Rangers Coordinator. He, along with his staff, was grateful for the gift, which will benefit the program.

Commodore King expressed his gratitude for the gesture, thanked President Dean and his members for the heartwarming gift, and established a meaningful partnership with them.

“One of my organizational focus is that of organizational sustainment, focusses on national youth development. I aim to strengthen the Rangers program to the extent that it also acts as a conduit into the Royal Bahamas Defence Force,” said Commodore King. “As we also continue to develop a national youth program for persons in grade 7-12, they will give community hour and different life skill opportunities. 

We are now partnering with several training establishments in the government and quasi-government agencies, and for it to be mandatory and attractive enough to engage stakeholders positively, as we branch out from the rangers program to that of a national perspective”.

As the Royal Bahamas Defence Force patrols and protects the Commonwealth of The Bahamas’ territorial integrity, the organization also focuses on nation-building for the younger generation.
