Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: The opposition United National Congress stated that the Minister of Health Terrance Deyalsingh owes the country an explanation regarding the sudden transfers of Couva Hospital doctors.
UNC stated that the NCRHA ‘s press-release issued on Friday is nothing but a cover-up to the allegations of forcing out senior doctors. The opposition stated that as Trinidad and Tobago is undergoing a massive health crisis, the government must conduct a formal investigation into the matter.
The United National Congress stated that the NCRHA, in its recent press release, claimed that Dr Don Martin had requested the CEO of implementing a rotation system to give them an opportunity to rest. UNC claimed that the doctors had not asked to be rotated through a demotion.
The opposition stated that their sources have confirmed that the NHRC’s decision was an involuntary removal. It added that the management transferred some very skilled and specialist doctors who have been helping the country come out of the coronavirus crisis.
“Trinidad and Tobago is the batteling third wave of coronavirus, our infection rates remain high, and it makes no sense to remove specialist doctors amidst of a health crisis,” stated United National Congress.
The party questioned if the health minister Deyalsingh is aware of the wrongdoings of NCRHA’s management in Couva Hospital.
