PM Terrance Drew commits to curb crime, hosts meeting with Security Forces

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew aimed at taking preventive measures in order to curb the crime with a vision to ensure the safety and security of every citizen of the country.
Recently, the Prime Minister met with the High Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force at Police Headquarters in order to review the homicides and construct a robust strategy to tackle the crime rate.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his concern over the surge in gun-related incidents. He stated that since the time he took the charge, he has spared no resources to deal with this very complex issue.
The leader of the nation stressed that the protection of his citizens has always been his foremost priority. For the same, he added that he is making the required resources available for disposal with a vision to reduce this threat and restore peace to the communities.
Moreover, the High Command of the Police and Defence Force presented an analysis of the gun incidents that have happened recently. They have identified the patterns and the potential causes of that crime and later held discussions on several topics. The highlighting topics of the discussion include, the immediate and long-term measures, increased patrols, strategic deployments, enhanced intelligence operations, and community engagement initiatives.
PM Terrance Drew reaffirmed on his commitment and stated that it is critical for them to maintain law and order in the country and for that they are working tirelessly to create a safe and healthy environment for all the citizens.
He also shed light on the next step and stated that for the first time, the Surgeon General of the United States declared that gun violence is a public health crisis in the country which demonstrates that this is a hemispheric problem that goes beyond the borders.
“We are preparing for the next step, which is the national consultation on crime and violence based on the principles of public health,” noted PM Terrance Drew.
The Prime Minister also urged all the citizens to unite together and help them in beating this scourge that has been affecting the country for decades.
