PM Skerrit discusses opportunities in digital economy with programmers & developers

Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit visited Jungle Bay to met group of the computer programmers as well as software developers.

During the meeting, PM Skerrit and the computer programmers , along with the software developers discussed the opportunities in the digital economy.

Prime Minister mentioned, “On Saturday, I met with a group of computer programmers and software developers at Jungle Bay, to discuss opportunities being created in the digital economy.”

“I heard their ideas and recommendations and assured them of the Government’s support of youth participation in the sector,” Prime Minister further stated in the regard of motivating youth to participate in the digital sector.

He further mentioned that a number of entrepreneurs have been “already operating in the digital space made presentations”.

The Minister for the Digital Economy- Cassanni Laville, Coordinator of the Digital Economy Unit- Mr Robert Tonge, and other government ministers and officials, were among the attendees of the meeting.

Prime Minister notified that the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica had been continuously working towards the development of the digital economy under the Caribbean Digital Transformation Project.

The government has invested around 75 million dollars in the project mentioned above.

PM Roosevelt Skerrit mentioned, “The Government of Dominica is investing 75 million dollars in developing the digital economy as part of the Caribbean Digital Transformation Project.”

While praising the good work by the government of Dominica, one of the residents stated, “This is great to see,” yet another said that this government is for the people by the people. The third one said, “Awesome initiative. Creating opportunities for our brightest minds”.
