Olympic Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to be honoured with Keys to the City of Kingston
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, a multiple-time Olympic and World Champion is all set to receive the Keys to the City of Kingston following her exceptional career in athletics.

Jamaica: Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, a multiple-time Olympic and World Champion is all set to receive the Keys to the City of Kingston following her exceptional career in athletics. Along with that, a road in the community Waterhouse, where she was born and raised, will be named after her.
The Keys to the City of Kingston is considered as the highest honour that can be bestowed by the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSMAC).
The decision to honour the sprinter was undertaken during a Council meeting held in the Marcus Garvey Council Chamber at 24 Church Street, downtown Kingston on Tuesday. The resolution was passed by the Councillor of the Hagley Park Division, Waynette Strachan.
While recognizing her accomplishments, Strachan stated that Fraser-Pryce has made entire Jamaica proud. She has transcended the boundaries of sport to become an icon, a symbol of hope, and an ambassador for rich and vibrant culture of Jamaica.
She further asserted that they are acknowledging Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce with the Keys to Kingston not only for her achievements but also for her great influence as a role model and mentor among all the Jamaicans.
Strachan also added that they are celebrating the promise of all that is yet to come and added that she is completely sure that Fraser-Pryce will continue to inspire many generations to come with her remarkable achievements and career.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is regarded as one of the greatest sprinters of all time. Her success on the track, shed light on her consistency at major championships, which has always helped to usher her in the golden age of Jamaican sprinting. She has been the two-time Olympic gold medallist and a five-time world champion in 100m.
Meanwhile, in the 200 m, she has won gold and silver at the World Athletics Championships, as well as an Olympic silver medal.
Moreover, in the recently held Paris Olympics 2024, Fraser-Pryce was all set to participate in the women’s 100m but she had to withdraw from it due to an injury she suffered. While sharing the news of her withdrawal, she stated that it is difficult for her to find the words to describe the depth of her disappointment.
Fraser Pryce further mentioned that she is truly blessed to have had the steadfast support of her fans since her Olympic debut in 2008. She further mentioned that the support of her fans, country, and the larger community has rooted her in immense gratitude that has sustained with her throughout her career.
